City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on January 30, 2022 from City Faces

This week's Bridgeport City Face is Lauren Dieringer Tomes. Meet her and her family here!

My name is Lauren Tomes. I have lived here most of my life! Outside of four years of undergrad up in Morgantown and two years in Lewisburg for medical school, the rest of my years I've called Bridgeport home.

Tell us about your family ...
I have been married for 13 years to Matt Tomes. We met through my brother, Ryan Dieringer. They were buddies and still are to this day. He brought Matt up to a Mountaineer football game and he came to my townhouse to tailgate and the rest is history!

We have three children. Our oldest, Payton, is 11 and you can find her dancing around the house constantly. She's been doing it since she learned to walk! So natually she's on the Bridgeport Middle School Danceline team and always at Almost Heaven after dance practice at Studio 9. She is the best sister to her younger brothers Archer, 6, and Wes. 4. Archer has the sweetests soul and loves his video games, friends, and basketball. Wes is our firecracker. He may be small, but he is fierce and has never met a stranger. We have a fur baby Jackson, who is 13. He may not be as energetic as he once was, but he still has a zest for life.

Why do you like it here in Bridgeport?
The sense of community is second to none! There's a smalltown feel with wonderful family and friends. And it's a great place to raise a family.

What's your favorite event here in our city?
My favovrite event would have to be Light Up Night. It's something very special that brings everyone together!

What about a spot that you frequent?
The Bridge (Sports Complex)! I've been waking up early to swim laps a few times a week. We also are there for Archer's flag football, Payton's volleyball and Wes's soccer.

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I work at Bridgeport Physicians Care as a Family Medicine Physician.

What are some of your favorite pasttimes and hobbies?
Fourth of July celebrations at Maple Lake and Oral Lake with family and friends. Reading, workout out at Main Street Fitness, spending time with family, traveling and music concerts.

Do you have goals - personal or professional - either shortterm or longterm?
Traveling more with my family!

Tell us about one of your favorite Bridgeport memories ...
Winning the 2002 AA cheerleading state championship!
What are your favorite area foods/restaurants?
Wonder Bar, Winnies, Twin Oaks, Oliverio's

What tunes are on your playlist?
Anything country

What are your favorite movies or TV shows? Are you streaming anything now or have recently that you recommend?
I hontestly don't have any. I don't have a ton of free time and when I do, I usually spend it reading!
I'm a sucker for romance or anything!

If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to send a month traveling the world, but currently I'm hoping to get to Africa to visit my
cousin, Kate.

What is one or more of your past favorite vacations?
Ocean City, new Jersey. The boardwalk is full of stuff to do for kids. I grew up going as a kid myself. One of my other favs was Lake Tahoe for a ski trip - just gorgeous!

What is an interesting tidbit about you?
I was one of the valedictorians of my 2002 graduating class.
