City Faces in Different Places: Meet Jennifer Cole

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 16, 2025 from City Faces

Today we feature Jennifer Cole as our Bridgeport City Face. She is a teacher at Bridgeport High School and her family has been very active in various athletic programs. Thank you, Jennifer, for allowing us to get to know you.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport?
I have lived in Bridgeport since July 1997. Almost 28 years. Terry and I got married and bought a house in Bridgeport. We loved the area and the school system.

What are your favorite memories here?
Bridgeport has blessed me with so many wonderful memories! Watching both my children grow up here, play in many ball games, win state championships, and graduate from Bridgeport High School have been my favorite experiences.

Tell us about your family …
My husband, Terry Cole, and I have been married for almost 28 years. We met in college and moved to Bridgeport to raise our family. We have two children.

Our daughter, Jordan Cole, is a 2019 BHS graduate where she played soccer, basketball, and ran track. Jordan played soccer at Glenville State University and graduated with a BS in Exercise Science. She is currently finishing her clinicals and will graduate in May with her Physical Therapy Assistance degree.

Our son, Cameron Cole, is a 2022 BHS graduate where he played football, basketball, and baseball. Cam is currently at Radford University in Radford, VA playing baseball and pursuing a degree in Sports Management and Business Administration. We spend so much time traveling to support him and watch his games.

(The Coles also have their beloved dog - a golden retriever named Sadie!)

What do you love about our city?
I love the close-knit community and living in a town where everyone supports the students academically and athletically.

What is your profession?
I have been a teacher for 27 years and have spent the last 17 years teaching at Bridgeport High School. I am proud to teach with amazing colleagues and working with such talented students.

What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about being a good teacher and trying to make a difference in the lives of my students. I hope they know I truly care about them. I also love being the biggest supporter for my kids. They definitely got their athletic ability from their dad, but I love being there as their biggest cheerleader.

What is your favorite color?
I love red! It has become my favorite color after many years of cheering on both my kids.

What do you like to watch on TV?
I love all Disney movies! Disney has been a huge part of watching my kids grow up and we loved our Disney trips together.

What about food? What is your favorite?
I love Italian food and feel we have the best local restaurants - Twin Oaks, Oliverio’s, and Muriale’s.  You can also find me at a local ice cream shop as well.

What are your hobbies and pastimes?
I love to travel! I have been all across the country following my kids with travel soccer and baseball. Getting to travel to Warner Robins, Georgia with the 12-year-old All Star Baseball team was an awesome experience to see them play in the Little League World Series.
I have also traveled across the US and parts of Canada while in college to tour in a singing group with my college called, “The West Virginians.”

Is there anything recent or special you would like to share?
We started attending Jewel City Church this summer and have been so happy to meet new friends and growing in faith. I am involved again with the music ministry and feel blessed to have music being a part of my life again!
