City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on February 28, 2021 from City Faces

This week's City Face is Vickie Tout. Meet her and her family and learn why she loves Bridgeport here:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport and what brought you here? I have lived in Bridgeport for 30 years. The coal mines...Consolidated Coal Company took my husband from being underground in Ohio to being underground in West Virginia.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.
Yes, Keith and I have been married for 40 years, and we have 2 daughters, Alicia and Brittany.  We have 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.  Alicia blessed us with Nicholas 17, a Bridgeport High School senior, Nathan, soon to be 7, and in first grade at Johnson Elementary, and Nia, who is just 16 months old. Brittany has blessed us with Isabella 11, and in the 6th grade at Bridgeport Middle and Matthew, soon to be 10 and in fourth grade at Simpson Elementary.

Do you have any pets?
Just grand pets

What is your profession?
We’ve been happily enjoying the life of retirement for a little over a year now.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
Love antique and thrift shopping, weather permitting riding our Vette and our Harley, and just spending time with family.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?
Hinkle and Deegan Lakes

I love the community.  It is a great place to raise kids. I’m always telling my friends back in Ohio that I truly live in a “Hallmark Town”.

What do you like about Bridgeport?
My favorite memories here in Bridgeport would have to be watching both my daughters cheer throughout their school years, the games, the competitions, and the gymnastics.

Favorite place outside of Bridgeport?
Blackwater Falls

Favorite place outside of West Virginia?
Myrtle Beach

What are a few of your favorite things?
The simpler things in life...family gatherings for holidays, summer cookouts, and family game night.

Favorite food/restaurant?
Love Italian food and also steak and potatoes.  Muriale’s Restaurant and Texas Roadhouse

What is your favorite color?
Red

Favorite music?
Country from Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, to newer artists like Luke Combs, and quite a few others, but still enjoy some of that “Old Time Rock n Roll," like Aerosmith, The Eagles, Bob Seger, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, and even some AC DC.

What are your most treasured memories?
Definitely time with my grandparents. I was lucky enough to grow up living near both sets of my grandparents, and even luckier to have had them in my life for many, many years.  When my grandson Nicholas was born, our pictures were taken and put in my hometown Ohio newspaper, for 5 generations on both sides.

What is an interesting fact about you?
Hmmm ... I’d say I’m just pretty ordinary.  I live a simple life and wouldn’t want it any other way.  God has blessed me with all I need!
