Mom2Mom Program to Begin at Benedum Civic Center in January

By Julie Perine on November 17, 2022

A new event – and a great new opportunity for moms – is coming to the Benedum Civic Center in January.

The City of Bridgeport is hosting its first Mom2Mom sale on Saturday, Jan. 28. Individuals can rent a table to sell baby and children’s clothing, maternity ware, baby gear and toys. The sale will be open 9 a.m. through noon.

“I’ve had a great response so far, so if people are interested in becoming sellers, they shouldn’t wait as we have a limited amount of space,” said Parks and Recreation Coordinator Amy Callahan, who is spearheading the event.

She said in her former Michigan community, Mom2Mom sales were very popular, and she was surprised to find that wasn’t the case in other areas.

The sale is open to the public. There is no admission cost, but it is asked that each person attending bring a can of food or other non-perishable food item, all which will be donated to Shepherd’s Corner.

Sellers can register in person or by mail by contacting Bridgeport Parks and Recreation at the Benedum Civic Center, 164 West Main Street, call 304-842-8240 or email acallahan@bridgeportwvcom.

“The Mom2Mom sale will benefit families in the area that are looking for clothing at a more affordable price and will help others recoup some of the money they spent on the clothes originally, then there are the environmental impacts of reusing materials,” Callahan said.
Sellers will have the option of donating unsold items to Goodwill.

Callahan said she plans to have three to four sales a year to follow seasons.

“The next one will probably be in the spring and then before school starts again in the fall,” she said.
