Frankie's Furry Friends: Adapting Pets to Residential Move Plus Adoptable Pet of the Day

By Frankie Michelle Dennison on July 23, 2019 from Frankie's Furry Friends

One of the number one reasons dogs are surrendered to shelters is due to moving to a new location. We need to work on this, as people don't realize the psychological and emotional turmoil it puts a pet through. First people need to plan ahead in their moving process. Most people have leases and know their moving date well in advance (at least 30 days).

But we also realize that pet friendly housing is difficult to find.

Landlords: We would love pet friendly landlords/companies to reach out to us either by calling, sending us literature, or shoot us a private message, letting us give out your information for pet owning renters.

Renters: Speak to your possible landlord about what issues they have. You can often talk about an agreed upon pet deposit, crating the pet when not at home, nail caps for pets to prevent scratching damage, etc.

Here are more tips from Animal Sheltering: https://www.animalsheltering.org/find-or-keep

Adoptable Pet of the Day: Joan is one chill kitty! This two-year-old female loves attention and she's just so pretty. She has medium-length hair, so she'll need brushed every so often, which she also loves. Come out to the shelter and meet her any day from 10:30 to 3:30. We think Joan would be a great addition to any home. Could it be yours?

Joan is spayed, up to date on all her vaccines, and dewormed. Her adoption is sponsored.
