Hi! My name’s Sariah and I’m a 31-year-old wife and mommy to four kids and three kitties. I spend my time away from family as a Registered Nurse instructing nursing clinicals for West Virginia Junior College and working on 5 North at UHC. I’m a Clarksburg native that moved to Bridgeport about six years ago. My husband Ben and I love to stay active. We enjoy running races, group exercise classes, lifting, biking, hiking, swimming, the list goes on! We currently are enjoying watching our five and seven-year-old compete on the Bridgeport Swim Team for the first time this summer.
What is your favorite motivational/self-help book? Reading? What’s that? ?? My most opened books right now are my scriptures. God helps me to be a better mom, wife, nurse… you name it. He keeps me motivated to try again after failing and helps me to find the joy in life.
Favorite healthy meal? I’m a salad fanatic. We are blessed to live in this area with lots of restaurants that serve amazing salads! One thing I do like to splurge on is dressings. However, most nights we have a side salad with our meals that I dress with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and garlic salt. It’s my kids favorite!
Favorite workout? Oh, this is a hard one. I do enjoy trying challenging, new workouts but my favorite would have to be my old standby, running (preferably without a stroller.)?? My favorite race is the Greater Clarksburg 10K.
How do you fit health and wellness into your busy lifestyle? With four kids, it’s not always easy to work out but I make it a priority because of the mental and physical benefits I feel afterward. I currently squeeze in most workouts during nap time. It’s not my favorite but this season won’t last forever and I’m enjoying my baby snuggles while I can. See below about cleaning my house. It’s always a workout and always needed!
What is your favorite motivational quote? I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it. - Mae West
How did your health journey start? My parents started me in sports when I was young. I loved the competitive atmosphere but also loved playing with my teammates and friends. I have always loved how I felt after a workout and hope to pass this feeling on to my kids.
What are some easy tiny habits that you recommend people start with on their journey? When I’m home with my kids I’m constantly trying to move - whether it be by cleaning the house, jumping on the trampoline, mowing the grass, shoveling the snow. There are tons of ways to move and stay active (aka burn calories) without having to formally work out.
