Each week, Healthy Harrison - Health Games - The Encore features a local Healthy Face.
Today, we meet Whitney Lambert, who shares some insight regarding a healthy lifestyle.
My name is Whitney and I'm the mother of two children, ages 4 and 7, and married to a three-time Toughman Champ, Gabe Lambert.
I'm the owner of Rival Fitness in downtown Clarksburg where my dad and husband both help in group fitness and personal training. We offer many different services for all ages including kids athletics, adult classes, senior classes, massage, nutrition counseling, Karate, personal training and more so it really keeps me busy!
My hobbies include working out (of course ha ha), volleyball, healthy cooking and I love to experience new things with friends and family!
Favorite motivational/self-help book? Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
Favorite healthy meal? I love salads and I also love seafood - shrimp, salmon, crab and lobster!
Favorite workout? My absolute favorite workout is Les Mills BodyCombat, but I also love BodyPump & Barre.
How do you fit health and wellness into your busy lifestyle? Fitness has always been a part of my life even before owning a gym. I’ve always made it a top priority. Learning to multitask is key! We are all busy with work, school, kids, etc, so getting into the habit of moving while doing the things you have to do is the best way to stay in shape while keeping up with everything going on in life. Examples: Study for classes while you workout, play games with kids that require lots of movement, exercise while watching TV, spend time with family doing something active!
Favorite motivational quote? “Your workouts are important meetings you scheduled with yourself. Bosses don’t cancel!”
How did your health journey start? From the time I could walk, my dad had me working out. I don’t remember ever not being in the gym. He was my workout partner my entire life, my coach for sports and now he’s one of my personal trainers/group fitness instructors at Rival Fitness! Exercise has always been our thing and I love having my dad by my side in this journey. He has taught me a lot and I’m excited to now have my own kids taking classes with me at the gym.
Tiny habits? As soon as you wake up, drink a glass of water. I’ve been doing this for a while now and this will help you start your day feeling better because you’re hydrated.
Scheduling 2-3 times a week to move more, whether it’s going for a walk, yard work, attending a group fitness class (it’s always more fun to work out with others), going to the gym, working out at home, hiking or biking with family. Getting family and friends involved will help keep you on track!
Planning out your week in advance will keep you on track. Bosses don’t cancel, remember ??
