Connect-Bridgeport Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary and Wants Your Feedback

By Julie Perine on April 06, 2022 from It’s Happening

It's hard to believe that Connect-Bridgeport has been online for an entire decade. Yes, this week marks the Web site's 10-year anniversary.

We remember how exciting it was to launch our very first stories which cooincided with the opening of Bridgeport Recreation Complex. It was April 12, 2012, when it all became official.

That was a big day in Bridgeport. A huge crowd gathered at the new baseball complex for Little League Opening Day and the official launch of the state-of-the-art facility. Mayor Jim Christie welcomed the town's people as Connect-Bridgeport beachballs were tossed into the crowd.

It was a happy time, just one of many memorable days here in our City of Bridgeport. We've tried to cover those events and share them with not only local residents, but also those in other cities, states and even countries.

Connect-Bridgeport has also covered hard news, from traffic accidents to fires to weather woes. Since the launch of our Web site, we've been through a derecho, health pandemic, flooding and snow storms. We've witnessed the change in command of various city officials. We've watched the strategic planning of The Bridge/CityNet Center and been there for the grand opening. We've watched athletes grow up and become exceptional in high school and college sports. We've seen our city change in infrascture and several new businesses open. We've also seen some close up shop. We've come together to raise money for and lift the spirits of those who have faced illness and other difficult life circumstances. And we've cheered many on to various victories. We've seen good come of tragic events and Bridgeport Nation has been an exceptionally support community.

Here at Connect-Bridgeport, we would like to note the occasion of our 10-year anniversary. We'd like to know what you like best about the Website. That could be an area of coverage, a specific story or event or some information which has encouraged, enlightened or educated you.

Please comment on this story. All contributers will be entered into a random prize drawing for a $100 gift card to Meadowbrook Mall. The winner will be announced Tuesday, April 12.

Most of all, we want to thank you - the readers and sponsoring businesses - for making Connect-Bridgeport a great success. We hope you will continue to ride along on this journey with us.

Congratulations on ten years and going strong! I've always enjoyed the Home/News/Community pages. In addition to typical news stories, C-B celebrates the happy times and focuses on the residents, even students, in the city that build this community. I've used the site a lot during COVID to direct me to the WVDHHR link to check the color map! I love that C-B offers a calendar for people to notify the community of public events and it's user-friendly! May C-B have many, many more great years serving this wonderful city!

Happy ten year anniversary! The Connect-Bridgeport team is awesome! It's always great to see the stories specific to Bridgeport both past and present. C-B does a great job getting information out to the public, which is helpful for both long time residents and those who have more recently settled in Bridgeport. It's a great little community and this is one of its shining assets.
