There are so many great things going on in our community and I want to touch on a couple of them in today’s blog.
Just in the rearview mirror is the 2023 Holly Ball to benefit United Hospital Center. It was a Roaring 20s good time at The Morris in Clarksburg. About 400 people were dressed in Great Gatsby style, enjoying dinner by Fish Hawk Acres and dancing the night away to Crimson Reign. Even UHC President/CEO Dr. David Hess took the mic to do a little singing. The décor was amazing: Feathers and pearls in a classic black and white color scheme fit the rustic, but elegant backdrop of The Morris to a T. It was easy to imagine the entire scene took place 100 years ago, at a time when the building and neighborhood were bustling with people and excitement. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of attendees and generous sponsorships, the event grossed over $108,00. The ball sold out in record time – by mid-December. Follow the UHC Holly Ball Facebook and Instagram accounts for more details on next year’s event - which as has already confirmed – will be held at The Morris Feb. 3, 2024. There are very exciting details soon to be revealed.
A civic club in our community had a vision a few years back and brought it to light. The tradition continues and it is one that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for are causes such as West Virginia Grand Families and WVU Medicine Children’s. You may know I’m talking about the GFWC Bridgeport Juniors’ Be the Change Ball. The 2023 event is – you guessed it – sold out, but those who nabbed tickets are in for an exciting time. The Fire & Ice-themed ball is happening March 11 at Bridgeport Conference Center. I have no doubt that the atmosphere will be electrifying as in past years, those gals have transformed the space to reflect past themes like Mardi-Gras, Fairest of them All, and last year’s Circus extravaganza. Funds raised this year will benefit Harrison County CASA. Court Appointed Special Advocates supports and promotes court-appointed advocates for abused and neglected children. What a wonderful cause and what a wonderful event. Again, watch the GFWC Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club’s “Be the Change Ball” social media pages for information on how to support the March 9, 2024 event which will be themed “Candy Shoppe.” Pretty sweet!
Do you know what else is sweet? Our community embraces both of these events, enabling area clubs, charities and health facilities to continue their great work. Now that's something to be proud of.
