Movie Review with Jeff McCullough: "John Wick"
By Jeff McCullough on October 30, 2014 from Movie Review
First and foremost, welcome back Keanu. We’ve missed you. John Wick Is a tremendous comeback for Reeves, his portrayal of the titular character the best performance he’s had since The Matrix, a film now well over a decade old. Follow this up with an intriguing world, some messed up antagonists (they kill a puppy!) ,gunplay filled action that rivals the genres best, and a sense of style that’s so often absent from the cookie cutter crap Hollywood normally doles out, and you have a real winner of a movie, and the best action film of the year.

@EKPG Thanks for reading! And your right about the dog, I meant she had arranged the delivery of it before her death, but there was some confusion in how I wrote it. As to saying Keanu is skinny, I only meant in comparison to other action stars. Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, their obviously huge muscular guys, and while Keanu is certainly fit and in shape, hes still not on that level. But I believe this makes his performance even more impressive, and a better fit for John Wick as a character. But I loved the movie, and Im cerrtainly hoping for a sequel as well, maybe showing off the universe some more

Thanks for the great things you did say about John Wick and Keanu. I loved the movie. I do agree the ending could have had some more to it in regards to the hand to hand thing, but all in all I have not had this much fun at the movies in a while. I do have to respond to something you said though....1) The dog was a gift that was sent to John only after she past. The letter implied this when she says..."if you are getting this, then I died"...and so she had this prearranged to be sent to him after that. & What do you mean by description of John Wick "somewhat skinny, average looking middle aged man..." What SKINNY?! Yeah sure he is was not like Arnold or Stallone but in no way would I call him skinny. Didn't you see the shower tatted John Wick? The worked out hard at the gym and in training to build up his body for this roll. Would be great to see more John Wick.
