DHHR Reports 1,130 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Active Cases at 652; State Deaths at 3,998

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Wednesday, Oct. 13) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 254,648  to 255,778; an increase of 1,130.
 
Wednesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 4,025,919 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 6.03 percent. The daily percent positive is at 8.20 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 10,438 (6,980 confirmed and 3,458 probable). Harrison County's active cases are at 652, there have been 9,656 recoveries and 130 deaths.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus has increased from 3,995 to 3,998.
 
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 46-year old male from Preston County, an 84-year old female from Preston County, and a 90-year old female from Preston County.
 
“As we extend our deepest sympathies to their loved ones, we also encourage all West Virginians to recognize the continued need to take every possible step to slow the spread of this disease,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary.  “If you are eligible, please schedule your COVID vaccine today.”
 
There are currently 9,703 active cases statewide with 242,077 recoveries.
 
According to the DHHR site, as of Oct. 12, there are 847 hospitalizations with 240 patients in ICUs and 173 on ventilators.
