DHHR Reports 611 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Active Cases at 121; State Deaths at 7,056

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 24, 2022

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Friday, June 24) the total number of  COVID-19 cases has increased to 529,262 with an increase of 611 new cases since the last update.

Friday's report shows the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 8.16 percent. The daily percent positive is at 12.35.

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 21,343 (14,495 confirmed and 6,848 probable). Harrison County's active cases are at 121, there have been 20,964 recoveries and 258 deaths.

Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.

The state's cumulative number of COVID-releated deaths is at 7,056 with two deaths reported since the last update.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of an 81-year old male from Preston County and a 67-year old female from Raleigh County.

“It’s important to remember that every number on our dashboard represents a person affected by COVID-19,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “We express our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones as we continue to fight this pandemic.”

There are 2,135 active cases and there have been 520,071 recoveries.
