La Guadalupana Antojitos Mexicanos Celebrates Opening with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

By Chris Johnson on July 06, 2024

Although in business since April, La Guadalupana Antojitos Mexicanos officially celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony last Wednesday.

The restaurant, located in the former Classic Car Stereo building on West Main Street, offers authentic Mexican cuisine but has two features that sets it apart from other restaurants that serve Mexican food.

In addition to a sit-down dining area, the building is also home to a market/grocery store that offers Mexican goods. Also, in addition to lunch and dinner, La Guadalupana Antojitos Mexicanos serves breakfast.

“We always wanted to put in the market,” said Juan Salazar, one of the restaurant’s co-owners/managers. “With breakfast, we wanted to offer something different than the other restaurants here.”

Salazar said some of the popular breakfast items thus far have been their omelet (shredded cheese, chorizo, ham salchicha, bacon and fresh jalapeños, onions and tomatoes), their West Virginia Burrito (eggs, french fries, shredded cheese, Mexican sausage, ham, onions and jalapeños wrapped in a tortilla) and their Huevos con Chorizo (three eggs with grilled Mexican sausage with a side of rice and black beans with a choice of tortilla or bread) have been three of their most popular breakfast items since opening.

Although with several breakfast, lunch and dinner options to choose from, Maria Lopez, also an owner/manager said their Boss burrito and street tacos are two popular signature dishes.

“All our food is made with authentic spices from Mexico, that’s what distinguishes this place from all the other restaurants,” Salazar said.

La Guadalupana Antojitos Mexicanos is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday through Sunday. They offer dine in, takeout and curbside pickup.

“Everything has been going well,” Lopez said. “We’re very excited. It’s tiny but comfy with a homey feel. Everybody has been very welcoming and we look forward to welcoming everybody to the restaurant.”
