Second Annual Light Up Our City to Kick off Thursday

By Julie Perine on December 01, 2021

ACCESS MAP FOR LIGHT UP OUR CITY 2021 HERE.

The second annual Light Up Our City will coincide with Light Up Night. Anytime after enjoying Thursday evening’s activities on Main Street, drive through town to take in the festive sights in our Bridgeport neighborhoods.

Access an Apple Map HERE indicating residential areas of the city that are lit up in holiday style. (You can also pick up a print version of the map at Light Up Night at the Bridgeport Visitors Center booth - located in front of My Little Cupcake).

Along the residential light tour, kids of all ages - and that includes you! - can watch for random letters, courtesy of Card My Yard Bridgeport. Keep track of those letters and at the conclusion of the city lights tour, see if you can unscramble those letters and solve our holiday message. Send your answer to Bridgeport@cardmyyard.com. Those with the correct answer will receive $10 off a Card My Yard message. One correct entry will be chosen at random, and that lucky resident will receive a free holiday 2021 Card My Yard. Letters will stay up through Wed., Dec. 8, so you have plenty of days to seek them out and solve the message.

Although the letter contest is for one week only, the festive competition runs through the holiday season.

On Wednesday, Dec. 8, and each Wednesday thereafter until Christmas, one decorated yard - or an entire street - will be selected to win the "Sleighed It Award," bragging rights confirmed by a free Card My Yard the following day.

As Christmas nears, we know more and more homes will be lit up. Keep those addresses coming. Send them on in and they will be added to the map. Send addresses to julie@connect-bridgeport.com.

Again this year, Connect-Bridgeport will be running a photo gallery, featuring some of the city’s beautifully decorated homes. Send your holiday lights photos to julie@connect-bridgeport.com.

Stay tuned to see which streets are truly glistening in holiday style.

Whether or not you are on the lights map, please go all out decorating. Chances are that motorists will be in your area and take in the holiday sights.

Light Up Our City is proudly sponsored by Card My Yard Bridgeport and the Greater Bridgeport Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Pictured are some Sleighed It award winners from 2020.
