Video: Celebrating Challenger League's 20th Season
By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 04, 2023
The Bridgeport Division of Challenger League Baseball recently wrapped up its season, and it was an extra special one. While each year is one of joy for those participating and assisting in the league, this year marked the 20th anniversary of the branch of Little League Baseball.
Founders Mike and Kim Martin are still going strong with the baseball league that plays its games at the The Bridge Sports and Recreation Complex.
For those not familiar, Challenger League is the division of Little League Baseball that Martin has said is for individuals with physical, mental, or emotional conditions that prevent them from playing in basic Little League. Those participating have autism, are blind or vision-impaired, have cerebral palsy, spina bifida or any number of conditions that prevent them from being able to take part in the other division of Little League. Martin said the majority of those participating in the Bridgeport division are autistic.
As has been the case for the past few seasons, the league has a season-ending video. The Martin family was kind enough to share it with Connect-Bridgeport and we would like to share it with you. Take a some time to enjoy the video below.
