Off the Shelf: Family Fort Nights, Movie Makers, Fandom Fridays, and More

By Sharon Saye on June 26, 2019 from Off the Shelf

The second part of our summer reading program begins next week.  The programs are similar but rescheduled at different times.  All you need to do to participate is to register; then you are given a packet with instructions, reading logs, schedule and activities.  The programs require pre-registration because of the craft supplies involved, but we kick off with Pokeball Terrariums on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at noon.

Family Fort Night is an interactive event for the whole family.  Participants will construct their own forts for reading and book discussions.  This takes place on Monday, July 8th at 8 p.m.  This is your chance to be in the library after hours.

Movie Makers is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9th at noon.  Participants will create book trailers of their favorite stories.  This program is for children ages 4-12.  Biblio-Bop Dance Party on Thursday, July 11th at 6 p.m. offers a change to learn about different genres of dance under the watchful eye of Sara Jones, instructor of ballet at Altered Productions Institute.  This program is for children ages 4-12.

Rock-N- Roll Mystery Theater on Tuesday, July 16th at noon gives attendees a chance to express their dramatic leanings.  Participants will have pre-assigned roles.  This program is for children between the ages of 9-12.

Fandom Fridays is showing “Mary Poppins” on Friday, July 12th at noon.  Participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Mary Poppins character.  This will be an interactive event for the whole family.  And Spidersona on Thursday, July 18th at 6 p.m. teaches how to create your own spidersona with graphic designer Kelsey Musgrave.  This program is for 4-12.

Finally, summer reading concludes with our big finale, LibraryCon, on Friday, July 19th from noon to 7 p.m.  Vendors will be set up through the library offering an assortment of different activities, information and projects.
