Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department Seeking Individuals to be Part of Benedum Civic Center Team

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 21, 2022

Bridgeport Parks and Recreation is looking for a good man or woman to serve as a receptionist on a part-time basis. The good news is that individuals have until Sept. 27 – at noon – to apply.

The job involves reporting to Parks and Recreation Director Joe Shuttleworth. The person hired will be at the Benedum Civic Center.

As for duties, they include answering and directing phone calls; greeting guests; payment collection for rentals, classes, and other items dealt with by the department; and handling clerical responsibilities such as filing, typing, copying, scanning, and other items.

Other duties will also be assigned, and responsibilities are not listed as that above.

The chosen individual will need to be available to work each week in a range of four to 16 hours. The work range will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

“While this position is open to all candidates, we really like to put community minded people into this position. In addition to the basic clerical duties, this position requires much interaction with our user groups and the general public,” said Shuttleworth. “It is a perfect position for someone wanting to get out of the house and be able to interact with others and those seeking secondary employment on evenings and weekends.”

Needed job skills include being familiar with Microsoft Office, have the ability to use copiers, fax machines, scan, and print documents, and possess phone and customer service skills. The hourly wage for the position is $11.88.

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. Some clerical experience preferred. Interested applicants can apply preferably on Indeed.com or send resumes/applications to Jordan Hill, Human Resources Director, City of Bridgeport, 515 West Main St., Bridgeport, WV 26330 or hr@bridgeportwv.com.
