By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 20, 2019

Ten West Virignia University football players were honored for their efforts against – and leading up to the game with – North Carolina State this past Saturday in Morgantown. The Mountaineers won the contest by a 44-27 score.

Included in those 10 players were a pair of Bridgeport High School graduates. Three-time state champions Eli Drummond and Dante Bonamico were both singled out for praise in awards handed out by the coaching staff.

Drummond was named the “Scout Player of the Week.” The honor of “Special Teams Player of the Week” went to Dante Bonamico. The two are among four BHS alums on the team along with Dylan Tonkery and Noah Drummond.

Several other WVU players were recognized. The individuals honored include Sam Jones (offensive player of the week), Dante Stills from Fairmont Senrio (defensive player of the week), Colton McKivitz (offensive lineman of the week), Jarret Doege (juice award of the week), Reese Donahue (community service of the week), Brandon Yates (scout offense player of the week) Adam Hensley (scout defensive player of the week), and Isaiah Esdale (scout special teams player of the week).
