Bridgeport High School girls basketball standout Danika Prescott solidified her plans for after graduation on Wednesday, signing her National Letter of Intent with Salem University.
The signing ceremony took place at BHS in front of a crowd of family, friends, teammates and coaches.
“I looked at a few different schools, I’m very focused on what I want to do after college so I had to look at the criminal justice program,” Prescott said. “They have a very good criminal justice program for crime scene investigation. They are close to home. The coach is very nice. I’m extremely excited to get to play for Salem.”
Prescott is one of the better shooters in the area and ends her career with 30 3-pointers made. She averaged 4.2 points per game her senior season.
Recognizing that shooting is considered her strength, Prescott has already started training for the next level, focusing on where to improve.
“Going from high school to college is a big jump anyway,” she said. “I’m going to work on everything all around.”
Prescott has also already had some success in the criminal justice area that she plans on studying at Salem.
“I’ve always been interested in it since I was in middle school,” Prescott said. “Last year, I went to the technical center for criminal justice. I did crime scene investigation. I did Skills USA. I won gold in crime scene investigation and went on to states with my team. It was a very good experience and I know its something I want to do in the future.”
