By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 29, 2024

Friday's clash between Bridgeport and Fairmont Senior at East-West Staidum will be a battle between No. 3 and No. 1, respectively in the latest WVSSAC High School Football Playoff Ratings for Class AAA.

The ratings are used to determine the postseason field for all four classes at the end of the regular season with the Top 16 in each class qualifying for the playoffs.

The Indians and Polar Bears are both 8-0 and both are coming off a bye. They are two of four undefeated teams remaining in Class AAA with Princeton (8-0) at No. 2 and Herbert Hoover (8-0) at No. 4.

Nearly half of the current Top 16 in Class AAA are Big 10 Conference schools. Joining Bridgeport and Fairmont Senior are North Marion (6-2) at No. 6, Elkins (5-4) at No. 9, East Fairmont (4-3) at No. 13, Lewis County (4-4) at No. 14 and Robert C. Byrd (3-6) at No. 16.

Martinsburg takes over the No. 1 spot in Class AAAA, while Frankfort is No. 1 in Class AA and Tug Valley is No. 1 in Class A.

Two more Big 10 schools are in the Top 16 in AA with Philip Barbour (6-2) at No. 3 and Liberty (4-5) at No. 16. Also in AA, South Harrison (6-2) is No. 7.
