The Grapevine: Legend Steps Down after 3 Decades as the Honorable Judge Thomas A. Bedell Retires

By Rosalyn Queen on December 19, 2024 from The Grapevine

This past week a special event took place that had nothing to do with the holidays.

The banner said the “Legend Is Retiring.” That is exactly what is happening as more than 150 people gathered to wish the Honorable Judge Thomas Bedell good luck on his next venture in life.

The party was hosted by the judge’s wife and his daughters. Also assisting them were Leslie Pruitt and Becky Thomas.

Bedell has served the citizens of Harrison County as a judge for more than 30 years.  His professionalism and fairness will certainly be missed.

Past sheriffs such as Wayne Godwin and Jimmy Jack were in attendance as were many of Harrison County’s attorneys. The judge took time to visit each person and thank them for attending this event.

2024 will mark the end of an illustrious career for Judge Bedell. Although no definite plans for the future were discussed he will retire to the family farm with his wife Debbie.

The event was held at the Uptown Event Center dining room.

Just a reminder as we draw nearer to Christmas to think of those individuals who are less fortunate than we are. Try to share with them if you have extra. The PWA will once again deliver Christmas baskets to the Cancer Center at UHC to be distributed to cancer patients. Invite someone who might be alone to share Christmas dinner with you. A little kindness will go a long way this season. You will be surprised at how great it will make you feel

Stay safe, stay healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
