The Grapevine: Trying New Hobbies for Summer Days and Condolences to the Thomas Family

By Rosalyn Queen on June 27, 2019 from The Grapevine

This past week found me trying some new things to fill out my summer days.  First, I went to play Bingo at the Village Square with my friend Justin Brumage.  Although we did not win anything  it was an interesting evening.  I know that some of the proceeds from these games go to support non-profit organizations for their immunity projects. If you and some friends are looking for something fun to do, check out a bingo game to help support a local charity.

Next, I spent my first afternoon in the pool here at my complex.  Although I am not a swimmer it was very relaxing to stay in the pool.  I have a feeling this is great exercise.  Just walking around the side of the pool seemed like  good exercise. My friend, Betty Kummer spent the afternoon with me and later in the evening Marty and Charnelle and Leslie and Dixon came over for a swim and had dinner with me.

I have been working on my plants on my patio.  After I transplanted them to larger pots a few of them seemed like the were not going to take, but I have continued to nurse them.  My tomatoes continue to get larger as do my peppers.  I got so excited about my fresh basil that I have to let it grow a little longer because I have used most of it.

The  PWA had their meeting this week and discussed some new programs for summer.  If you are interested in a candle making class or a crocheting class please call  Kellie at 304-624-6881.  Remember our facility is for rent for your community functions.  Please call to schedule your date.

It seems that one of the side effects of the chemo is neuropathy.  I have had an appointment in Morgantown to see if we can determine just what is going on.  I had to have some work on my port in the infusion center and this is where I took my chemo treatments for the last several years.  As strong and as brave as I have tried to be it was bad to be back there for the first time and I  sort of had a panic attack but talked myself out of it.  Taking chemo is no picnic in the park.  The side effects remain with you for a long time.

I met the Imogene Colombo Quinn family at Veto's Restaurant the other night and Imogene looked great.  She is the last surviving member of her family and carries the name well.  I wish her many more years in good health.

My condolences to the Clyde Thomas family.

Be  safe on your vacations and enjoy the summer.  Take care, keep in touch and until next week "Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine."
