WVU players get props from fans during the pre-game Mantrip Saturday morning in Morgantown. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Long before the first snap, WVU quarterback Geno Smith was taking control of what would turn out to be a decisive win. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Former Mountaineer Coach Don Nehlen, center, is flanked by his friend and former Marhsall Coach Bob Pruett, left, and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Even before the whistle blows, West Virginia University Coach Dana Holgorsen is already all business. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) The pre-game coin flip proved to be one of the few areas where Marshall was able to secure a win Saturday. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Travon Van finds the going tough early on against WVU's defense. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Eric Kinsey makes the going a bit uncomfotable for Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) West Virginia University's coaching staff signals in to Shawne Alston heads up the field for some of his 100-plus yardage rushing Saturday. Alston's hard-nosed style, coupled with a strong showing by the offensive line, helped produce a huge offensive day for WVU. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) There was plenty for the West Virginia University student section to cheer about in the drubbing of The Herd Saturday afternoon. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) A little bit of a post-touchdown sky dance is performed by Stedman Bailey, left, and J.D. Woods. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Geno Smith shows his excitement after one of 10 touchdown drives the Mountaineers delivered Saturday. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Perhaps the Marshall coaching staff found the best way possible to stopping Tavon Austin. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) The play was a bit physical between the two teams - as this play attests - but it was WVU that got the upperhand in all categories. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Marshall's defense grabs at anything in an attempt to slow down Shawne Alston. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) After a quick glance of the field, Geno Smith makes a few adjustments to the offensive scheme. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Whether it was in the pocket or rolling out, Geno Smith was near perfect Saturday. The WVU quarterback completed 32-of-36 passes with four touchdowns. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) One of the few miscues in the game came on this Tavon Austin fumble. However, the Mountaineers were able to come up with the loose ball. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Marshall's Jeremiah Taylor muffs on an attempted takedown of Geno Smith Saturday. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Marshall's defense came up with a big goal line stand in the firt quarter against WVU. It was one of the few times MU was able to keep the Mountaineers out of the end zone. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Tommy Shuler gets wrestled to the ground by the Mountaineer defense. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) This photo likely came very early in the game as the Thundering Herd fans still had something to cheer about. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Defensive end Will Clarke made his presence felt throughout Saturday's contest. Clarke finished with three tackles, including one for a loss and also broke up a pass. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) This first half bomb to WVU's Ivan McCartney didn't produce the desired results. However, it was just one of four passes that quarterback Geno Smith did not complete. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Tavon Austin's eyes are wide open as he looks to make his move upfield. Austin led all players with 173 all-purpose yards. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) With Ryan Clarke leading the way, Shawne Alston rambles for a piece of his 123 yards rushing. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Unlike many Mountaineers of the past, Jonathan Kimble brings a bit of an edge to the post. And it appears to suit this year's version of WVU just fine. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) A little bit of pre-pass contact makes this effort by WVU's J.D. Woods a bit more difficult thanks to the play of Alex Bazzie and Keith Baxter. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) After misfiring on his first extra-point attempt on the day, Tyler Bitancurt was perfect for the Mountaineers. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Terrence Garvin manages to collect a sack against Rakeem Cato Saturday. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Isaiah Bruce rambles down field 43 yards for a touchdown after recovering a fumble by Marshall late in the third quarter of Saturday's win. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) No quarter taken and none is given to Marshall's Demtrius Evans by the Mountaineer defense. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) WVU's Ivan McCartney looks to avoid the tackle of Marshall's Derrick Thomas. McCartney's lone catch covered 52 yards. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) WVU's Doug Rigg hauls in an interception from his linebacker spot and nearly returns it for a touchdown in the second half of Saturday's ball game. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) With the game in hand, Paul Millard comes into the game to spell Geno Smith. On this pass play, Millard managed to connect on a three-yard scoring strike. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) With the game well in hand, Shawne Alston and Geno Smith take in the action from the Mountaineer sideline. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Terrence Garvin and the Mountaineer defense make quick work of Marshall's Steward Butler. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com) Dana Holgorsen spends time with the media during the post-game press conference Saturday afternoon. (Ben Queen at www.benqueenphotography.com)
