Assistant Director of Lasting Impressions Child Development Center

Working under the guidance of LICDC Executive Director, the Assistant Director supports the Director by managing daily operations, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with state health and safety licensing regulations, assisting in the education of the children and fostering parent communication. Key roles include hiring and training, curriculum implementation, administrative tasks, and covering as acting director in the absence of the Executive Director. The Assistant Director should possess ample knowledge that is required for our non-profit organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the functions of LICDC (including but not limited to):

· Assist in classrooms to maintain ratios when necessary

· Attend monthly team and/or board of director’s meetings to communicate needs and progress to LICDC management

· Follow center policies for cleaning and sanitizing equipment and toys

Administrative and Operational Support(including but not limited to):

· Have a basic understanding of the center’s financial and non-profit status

· Maintain organizational insurance policies and renewals

· Assist with audit preparations and liaise with external accountants and vendors

· Help develop and improve financial and administrative policies and procedures

· Assist, develop and implement strategic and business plans to reach targeted goals

· Maintain Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements and monthly documentation and applications, along with utilizing and implementing CACFP trainings

· Maintaining proficiency and accuracy in documentation and requirements for subsidy families

· Assisting and ensuring waitlist applications are maintained and submitted in a timely manner

Under guidance of Executive Director; while supporting the learning of the children, including, but not limited to:

· Guiding/assisting classrooms to be sure they are in compliance with NAEYC requirements

· Assisting classrooms in the required Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) framework

· Assist in supervising classroom activities and meeting curriculum objectives

· Assist in ensuring a clean, safe and healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children/classrooms

· Assist in ensuring lesson plans are submitted and executed

· Assist in ensuring observations are being submitted correctly in Teaching Strategies and help with monthly child portfolio checks

· Assist in WVSTARS maintenance and required hours of all staff

· Assist in performance evaluation process of all staff

· Assist in staff weekly scheduling

Education, Licensing, and Certification requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Early Child Education (or related field) and at least 5 years in Early Childhood Education field.

· Understanding of payroll processing, budget management and financial reporting

· Excellent attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality

· Comprehensive physical examination, including drug screening

· Verification of a negative TB test and maintain verification as required

· Undergo a criminal background check and fingerprint clearance

· Adult and pediatric first aid and CPR required

· Food handler card required

· Complete professional development training via WV STARS

· On an annual basis, evaluate job performance and develop a continuing education plan

Safety Requirements:

· Frequently lift, move, or hold children with a range of 10 to 40 pounds

· Supervise and interact with employees and children outdoors for extended periods of time

· Demonstrate full range of motion and ability to fully participate in activities

· Respond immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies

· Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy
