Reports to: Superintendent of Utilities

 

Job Summary & Qualifications:

The City of Bridgeport is accepting applications for a full-time Meter Technician position at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The qualified applicant should have a high level of maintenance skills with a proven work ethic. This position will be responsible for various maintenance and operational issues within the water meter system. Essential duties include Meter Reading for Utility Billing

· Meter Checks and Reads for Customer Issues

· Maintenance and installation of Water Meters

· Upkeep of Meter Wells

· Testing of Water Meters

· Service Orders

· Service Turn On/Off

· Collect Payments

· Assisting with fire hydrant flushing

· Assisting Utility Operator with dosing the water system with chlorine as needed

· Respond to customer issues as needed

· All other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

• Applicant will be required to have a Meterman Card or obtain one within 1 year of hire date
