Robert "Timbuck" Shields Passes Away

Robert “Timbuck” Shields, a long-time educator and coach, passed away this morning after a recent battle with health issues, family members confirmed. The Bridgeport resident was well known for his involvement in sports, including at the youth and high school levels, as well as the American Legion ranks.
 
Shields’ funeral and arrangements will be handled by Amos Carvelli Funeral Home in Nutter Fort. They arrangements have yet to be finalized, according to Director Randy Amos.
 
The love of the game of baseball continued with his family and through his son Robert, who coaches the Bridgeport High School baseball team. Shields’ was no novice at the game of baseball. As a youth he progressed in the St. Louis Browns’ farm system.
