While the worst of the storming may be over for Bridgeport and surrounding areas, heavy rain could still hit, according to WDTV Chief Meteorologist Ken Meehan.
According to Meehan, there will be showers and storms around for the rest of the evening with some of the rain coming down hard. The good news, for those looking for it, is that it should be gone by 11 p.m. this evening.
“There’s a good chance rain could be heavy at times and where we’ve had flooding in the area it could be heavy enough to lead to more flooding,” said Meehan. “There is a flash flood watch in affect right now for Harrison County until 11 p.m.”
Meehan said the rain pattern will likely be on and off for the rest of the day. The weather pattern also includes some dry stretches, he said.
Bridgeport was blasted by heavy rains overnight and several areas have flooded. While water has receded in some sections, additional rains could exasperate an already bad situation. Emergency personnel have advised those traveling to exercise caution.
