For those driving along Route 98 between Nutter Fort and Clarksburg, or for anyone pulling out of the entrance to Robert C. Byrd High School, they have probably noticed the well-manicured parcel or property sitting just above the little plaza hosting Dollar General.
The green space also had a gravel road behind it, which often featured a pile of mulch being used in the area. Recently, the well-manicured space has seen a big change.
The grass is now covered with gravel, and heavy equipment is in place. There is also an outhouse on site and some pipes can be seen in the same area.
Is infrastructure being put in place? A new business going in?
Neither, according to a Harrison County official. The property, thought by many to be owned by the Harrison County Board of Education, is owned by the Wanstreet family.
The official said the property is being rented to an oil and gas company. The company will use the site for storage and equipment.
There was no word on how long the site would be utilized.
