The decision has been made by Robert C. Byrd and Coach Josh Gorrell. Today, by phone call to the WVSSAC office in Parkersburg, Gorrell and the Eagles determined when they would play Bridgeport in the second round of the Class AA playoffs.
Principal Matt DeMotto has confirmed that Bridgeport and RCB will meet Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Wayne Jamison Field. Kickoff for the contest will be 7:30 p.m.
The Class AA No. 3 Indians earned the right to host the contest. As the lower, No. 6 seed, the Eagles had the option to play Friday night, or at 1:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The Eagles chose the standard Friday night time frame.
The game will mark the second contest between the two Harrison County and Big 10 rivals this season. The Indians and the Eagles met Sept. 21 at Wayne Jamison Field. During that encounter, the Eagles twice led by double digits in the fourth quarter only to see the Tribe rally.
Bridgeport came away with a 41-35 win in the regular season contest that was among the most exciting games in recent years. The two teams appear to be one of the most evenly ranked matchups, regardless of classification, in the quarterfinal round of the prep football postseason.
