A week after sharing the No. 3 position in the WVSSAC prep football rankings, Bridgeport has moved into the spot by itself. The power ratings, which came out today, saw multiple teams move around in all three classifications.
The Indians, however, remained in place. Last week, the 4-0-1 Tribe was knotted up with 5-0 Bluefield in the No. 3 position. This week, the Beavers stand alone in the No. 2 spot. Future BHS opponent Fairmont Senior, 5-0, is comfortably ranked No. 1 in the poll.
BHS has 11.4 points, while Fairmont Senior is in the top spot at 12.8 points Bluefield comes in second at 12.2 points. A win this week against Class AAA Elkins would add to Bridgeport’s total.
Rounding out the top five is Chapmanville and James Monroe, both tied for the fourth spot at 11 points. Week six opponent – Keyser – stands at No. 6 and remains unbeaten at 5-0. Another future foe, North Marion, has cracked the top 16 at the No. 15 spot. Harrison County’s Lincoln High School dropped to No. 8 after its loss to South Harrison. The Hawks, meanwhile, moved up to No. 2 in Class A.
Robert C. Byrd is listed at No. 17 in the poll. The Eagles are 3-2 and need to be in the top 16 at the end of the year to make the postseason.
