BHS Alumna Emily Oliverio Publishes Children's Book

Emily Oliverio, a 2013 Bridgeport High School graduate, has announced the release of her new children’s book, "The Boy Who Only Eats Chicken Nuggets and French Fries," a heartfelt and relatable story for families navigating picky eating.

The book tells the story of a young boy who will only eat his favorite foods: chicken nuggets and french fries. For him, new foods can feel overwhelming and unfamiliar, so he sticks to what feels safe and predictable. Through gentle storytelling and engaging illustrations, the book helps readers understand the feelings behind picky eating while introducing the idea that trying something new can be a positive and exciting experience.

"The Boy Who Only Eats Chicken Nuggets and French Fries" was written to help children feel understood while also giving parents a story they can use to start supportive conversations about food. The book emphasizes patience, encouragement, and curiosity rather than pressure, creating a warm and reassuring reading experience for families.

Oliverio wrote the book after recognizing how common mealtime struggles can be for many children and caregivers. Her goal was to create a story that children could see themselves in while helping parents approach picky eating with empathy and understanding.

“This story is meant to help families feel less alone during mealtime challenges,” Oliverio said. “Many children have strong preferences with food, and this book gently shows that it’s okay to take small steps when learning to try something new.”

"The Boy Who Only Eats Chicken Nuggets and French Fries" is now available for purchase on Amazon. The Amazon link is provided HERE.
