BHS Baseball, Softball Teams Begin Postseason Play Today

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 01, 2021

Both Bridgeport High School baseball and softball teams will begin Class AAA Region I, Section 2 play today.

The BHS baseball team (25-3) is the top seed in the section, which will be double elimination format, and will be at home throughout. At 6 p.m. today, the Indians will be at home to face fourth-seeded Preston.

The BHS softball team (5-15) is the No. 3 seed and will be on the road today to face No. 2 Buckhannon-Upshur. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The softball tournament is also double-elimination so the Indians could potentially be at home on Wednesday if No. 1 University beats No. 4 Preston. The Indians and Knights would then meet in an elimination game at Bridgeport.

According to BHS athletic director and assistant prinicpal Mark Jones, everybody must pay since they are sectional games and no county passes will be accepted. Ticket price for all sectional games is $6.
