Boil Water Advisory Lifted in Bridgeport, Clarksburg
By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 18, 2025
The Precautionary Boil Water Advisory that was issued on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, for all customers in the City of Bridgeport service area is hereby lifted.
Testing performed by the Clarksburg Water Board and the City of Bridgeport Public Utilities has determined the water being supplied to the City of Bridgeport has met all quality standards and is safe for human use and consumption. It is no longer necessary to boil your tap water. Due to continuous flushing of the water system in the efforts to remove sediment, customers may experience discolored water which poses no health risk. Officials recommend running hot and cold water through your faucets for five to ten minutes to clear any discoloration or cloudiness in the water supply.
The City of Bridgeport would like to thank our customers for your patience and understanding during these unanticipated events. We understand the inconvenience this causes our customers, and we strive to minimize these occurrences to the best of our ability. Please be mindful however, that the public’s health and safety will always take precedence in these situations.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
For more information, customers can contact the City of Bridgeport by calling (304) 842-8212 or by email at jcummons@bridgeportwv.gov.
Editor's Note: Clarksburg has also announced its advisory has been lifted.
