City Council Honors WWTP Employee Luke Sigley

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 16, 2026

Bridgeport’s Council recognized one of its city workers during the Monday, May 11 meeting for a service anniversary.

Luke Sigley was presented with the employee service award during the session. Sigley is in his 10th year at the wastewater treatment plant.

Sigley was joined by his wife, along with Mayor Robert Matheny, and Superintendent of Utilities Jared Cummons during the presentation. Matheny, then, Cummons thanked Sigley for his time with the city.

“Luke started with us as a retired Army veteran,” said Cummons. “He was completely new to the wastewater industry, but unphased to give it a shot.”

That shot worked out well. In short order, Cummons said Sigley earned his Class I license. Today, he has achieved all the licensing that can be acquired at the state level.

“This past December, I’m very proud to say that Luke has achieved a Class IV Wastewater license, which is the highest the state offers,” said Cummons. “… We see what you do. We appreciate you.”
