City Faces in Different Places

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on August 31, 2014 from City Faces

Bridgeport is known for some of the best schools in the state.  Teachers, staff, parents and students are all contributing to make the schools stand out.  If you’ve been to Bridgeport Middle School in the last few years, chances are you may have met my friend Jennifer Duarte.  Please take a moment to get to know Jennifer.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport?  Jennifer has lived in Bridgeport eight years.

Where are you originally from? Jennifer grew up in Clarksburg, WV.  She is a 1990 graduate of WI High School. She has also lived in White Sulphur Springs, Beckley, and Pinehurst, North Carolina before moving back home to Harrison County.

Are you married? Yes, married to Scott Duarte for 21 years. Scott graduated from Liberty High School in 1989.  They were married in May of 1993.

Children?  Jennifer and Scott have four children.  Brock, 20, and Brennan,18, currently attend WVU.  Sophia,12, and Amelia,10, attend Bridgeport schools.

What is your favorite color?  Aqua

Where do you work?  Jennifer is a secretary at Bridgeport Middle School.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?  Jennifer’s favorite spot is Wayne Jamison Field. She enjoyed watching her boys play soccer and her son Brennan kick for the football team under Friday night lights.  She also likes to watch her daughter dance at halftime for the middle school dance line.  The field has provided some wonderful memories for her family.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?  Jennifer is very fond of Tygart Lake.  Her family loves to go boating. She thinks it’s one of the most beautiful places she’s ever been to visit.

Favorite place outside of WV?   Any place with a beach to get away and relax.

Favorite restaurant? This was an easy answer for Jennifer - Mia Margherita is her favorite.  Her husband Scott is part owner, and creator of the restaurant.

Best childhood memory?  Jennifer went to the beach for the first time when she was seven.  She was with her family – her parents, her older sister Traci, and younger sister Nicki.  She remembers the experience as very magical and a trip she will always cherish.  Unfortunately, her sister Nicki had Cystic Fibrosis and passed away the following summer.

Favorite musical group?   Jennifer loves a variety of music from Contemporary Christian, Jazz, Top 40, Motown, Classic Rock, etc.  She and her girls really love Taylor Swift.

Pets?  One dog Carly.  She is a four year old Chinese Crested Powder Puff.

Hobbies?  Jennifer loves watching her kids do what they love to do, whatever it may be.

Interesting fact about you?  Jennifer’s son Brennan is a 2013 WV State AA Football Champion and Jennifer is a 1989 WV State Cheerleading Champion.  She cheered for Washington Irving High School.
