City Faces in Different Places

By Michelle Duez on May 31, 2015 from City Faces

On Saturday the BHS Class of 2015 graduated at Wayne Jamison Field under blazing hot sun.  It was a well-planned ceremony and a moment of pride and reflection for many.  My son, Michael Duez, was one of yesterday’s graduates.  Please take a moment to meet Michael.  Congratulations to this very talented BHS Class of 2015, I wish you all the best.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport?  15 years

Where are you originally from?  Michael was born in Morgantown and lived in Clarksburg for his first three years.

Are you married? No, Michael is dating Felicity Nolder.  Felicity is a 2015 graduate of Oak Glen High School and will be attending Wheeling Jesuit in the fall.  Michael and Felicity met at Alderson Broaddus Cross Country camp.

Family?  Michael is the oldest son of Matt and Michelle Duez and brother to Mark, 15, and Mitchell, 11.  Mark is a freshman at BHS and Mitchell is in 5th grade at Simpson Elementary.

What is your favorite color?  Green

Where do you work?  Michael works concessions at the Bridgeport City Pool.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?   Hinkle and Deegan Lakes…he likes the gazebo at Lion Park to hang out with friends.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?  Laidley Field in Charleston - Michael has outstanding memories of time spent with the BHS Track teams at the field for Gazette Relays and States.  He won two 4 x 800 state championships and a team state track championship at the field.  Competing with the best athletes from the state is an honor.

Favorite place outside of WV?   Visiting his aunt and uncle Sheri and Tim Hyatt and cousins, Alex and Christopher in Maryland, in the DC suburbs..  There are many things to do and see in the DC suburbs.  Michael has been to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe and all over the United States but the rolling hills of Maryland remain his favorite.

Favorite restaurant?  Shogun, his favorite dish is shrimp and fried rice.

Best childhood memory?  Making his first Pop Warner Football touchdown against Mannington at Mannington.

Favorite musical group?   Blink 182

Pets? Three cats, Molly, Mo and Miles

Hobbies?  Running, video games, watching sports, hanging out with his friends and learning about history are the things he enjoys in his spare time.

Interesting fact about you?  Michael won a state championship in every sport he participated in since he was a sophomore.  He won the WVSSAC State Championship AA Boys 4 x 800 in 2013, Boys Cross Country 2013, Boys Cross Country and Track in 2014 and the Boys 4 x 800 in 2015.
Michael will be attending West Virginia Wesleyan College in the fall.
