Please take a moment to meet this week's City Face Shirley Brown:
How long have you lived in Bridgeport? Since 1960 when she was in eight grade, she is a 1966 BHS graduate.
Where are you originally from? Rosemont, West Virginia
Are you married? Yes, Bob Brown. Bob is Napoleon, Ohio. He played football for Ohio University, coached football for Marshall (the second staff after the plane crash) and worked as a stock broker until he retired.
Children? Yes, two girls; Shelley lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is a medical sales representative. Shannon lives in Arlington, Virginia. She is senior executive in human resources for KB Home Builders.
What is your favorite color? Red and white and blue and gold
Where do you work? Retired school teacher
Favorite Bridgeport spot? Bridgeport Middle School, Shirley taught there for fourteen years and treasures the memories from those years.
Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Mountaineer Field because it represents West Virginia so well. She loves the Mountaineers and thinks they play in an amazing conference.
Favorite place outside of WV? Charlotte and DC because these are the places her daughters live.
Favorite restaurant? Wonder Bar for steak, Muriales for red sauce and Oliverios for white sauce.
Best childhood memory? Spending quality moments with extended family eating pasta and having wiener roasts at her father’s family farm in Rosemont.
Favorite musical group? Shirley loves soul music as well as Chicago, Bee Gees, Barry White and the Supremes.
Hobbies? Zumba, tutoring, helping on mission trips and golf
Interesting fact about you? Shirley knows more about sports than most people. She is very passionate about sports and can’t choose a favorite because she likes them all.
