City Faces in Different Places

By Michelle Duez on September 20, 2015 from City Faces

This week's City Face is Beth Christie, please take a moment to get to know her:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? Beth lived in Bridgeport twice. She moved here at the end of her Junior year of high school, moved away after graduation, and moved back again 5 years ago with her family.  She is a 1990 BHS graduate.

Where are you originally from? Wellsboro, PA

Are you married? Yes, to her high school sweetheart and Bridgeport native Jimmy Christie. Jimmy is a a 1991 BHS graduate and a project manager for the site department at Larson Design Group in Morgantown.

Children? Beth and Jimmy have two girls -Maizze, 6th grade at BMS and Gabby 4th grade, Simpson.  Both girls are members of 4H and sing in the choir at Bridgeport United Methodist Church.  Maizze is a member of the BMS Cross Country team.

What is your favorite color? Beth says they laugh about this in their house. Her favorite color to wear is brown but her favorite color to look at is silver.

Where do you work?  Beth is a benefit administrator at Steptoe & Johnson.

Favorite Bridgeport spot? Her neighborhood, she loves her neighbors, and especially loves their backyard.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Canaan Valley is a favorite place of their family to enjoy the outdoors. They enjoy skiing, hiking, fishing and biking.

Favorite place outside of WV? Kalahari Resort, Sandusky Ohio

Favorite restaurant? Meagher’s Irish Pub in Bridgeport and The Wonder Bar outside of Bridgeport

Best childhood memory?  Spending time on her Grandparents farm in Asbury, NJ is near and dear to Beth’s heart.  It was a fruit and vegetable farm, and as a child her grandfather would let her go out with him and the workers to pick corn.  Riding in the truck, tasting the cherries that were for sale at the stand are fond memories.

Favorite musical group? Beth doesn’t have a favorite group. Her musical tastes are off the chart eclectic, with her play lists including YoYoMa, Top Pop 40, Eminem, Contemporary Christian and Broadway Musicals.

Pets? Three dogs - Nan is a 12 year old Great Pyrenees, Mabel is a 3 year old Flat Coated Retriever, and Dixie is their newest addition – a brindle Bull Mastiff, formerly their foster through Pet Helpers. All of her fur kids are rescues.

Hobbies?  Beth and her family are volunteers for Pet Helpers, Inc.  Beth also loves working out with her early morning group, reading, hiking and cooking.

Interesting fact about you? Beth lived in Colorado for almost fifteen years. During that time, she was one of a group of less than five working for a construction company who created a Kickball Classic and Pancake Breakfast fundraiser to help raise money for a local women’s shelter. This event became an annual event to help raise money for women and children in Eagle County, Colorado and is now in its fourteenth year.
