City Faces in Different Places

By Michelle Duez on February 21, 2016 from City Faces

Please take a moment to meet this week's City Face, Leslie Perine:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? Leslie moved to Bridgeport in 1990.

Where are you originally from?  She is originally from Pennsboro in Ritchie County.  She is a 1995 BHS graduate.  She obtained her degree in Nursing from Alderson Broaddus in 1999 and went on to obtain her Masters in Nursing at WVU in 2004.

Are you married? Yes, to Jason Perine.  They were married in 1999 at Meadowbrook Church of Christ.  He is a 1995 BHS graduate.  Jason is an electrician with Mon Power.

Children? Leslie and Jason have three girls.  Emma, 13, in eighth grade at BMS.  She plays soccer for BMS and Mountain State Soccer.  Millie,10, in fifth grade at Simpson Elementary.  She plays softball and likes to run.  Eliza, 7, is in second grade at Simpson Elementary.  She plays soccer, basketball and softball.

What is your favorite color? Blue

Where do you work? Assistant Professor of Nursing at Fairmont State University

Favorite Bridgeport spot? City Park, she enjoys the sense of family and community.  Kids have many activities in the park and it’s a nice place to be together.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Cedar Creek Campground in Glenville is her favorite place.  There is no cell phone service and they love to camp and spend time together without distractions.

Favorite place outside of WV? Tybee Island, Georgia is her favorite place to get away.  It’s not commercial, it’s quiet and relaxing.

Favorite restaurant? Poky Dot in Fairmont

Best childhood memory?  Family dinners and holidays, great memories of extended family all visiting together at once is something she remembers fondly.

Favorite musical group? She enjoys all genres of music; however, her favorite is old country. She likes listening to Alabama.

Pets? A Black Lab named Patch and a Boxer-Saint Bernard mix named Wilson

Hobbies? Spending a lot of time with family activities and the girl’s activities.  Read, run and camp

Interesting fact about you?  Jason and Leslie are high school sweethearts.  Leslie didn’t like Jason very much at first.  Jason would tie her hair to the fence at the pool in the summer.  A few years ago, they were at a basketball game and one of their teachers from fourth grade, Carole Kinard, said how cute it was that they were married.  Carole recalled how Jason had written about marrying the new girl in school, Leslie, some day.  His vision came to a reality.
