City Faces in Different Places

By Michelle Duez on May 01, 2016 from City Faces

Please take a moment to meet this week’s City Face Shannon Gibson:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? Seven years

Where are you originally from? Holland, Michigan on Lake Michigan is where Shannon was raised.  She graduated from Western Michigan University in 1996 with a degree in Secondary Education specializing in English and a minor in Political Science.  She obtained her Master's in Educational Media and Technology from Eastern Michigan University.

Are you married? Yes, to Lee Gibson.  Lee is from Richmond, Michigan.  He and Shannon met their freshman year at Western Michigan University.  He graduated from EMU in 1996 with a degree in Criminal Justice.  He currently works as a computer crime specialist for the National White Collar Crime Center.

Children? Yes, two children – Andrew, 16, is a sophomore at BHS.  He runs Cross Country and is in the Chess Club.  Samantha, 12, is in 7th grade at BMS and runs cross country and track.  She also is a member of the GFWC Bridgeport Juniorettes and Wyldlife.

What is your favorite color? Shannon’s favorite color often depends on her mood but if she had to pick one, it would be teal.

Where do you work? Shannon is a paralegal for Cooper Law Offices in Bridgeport. She is also an English teacher for the online Westwood Cyber High School.

Favorite Bridgeport spot? City Park is Shannon’s favorite because it offers so much to everyone.  She appreciates its natural beauty and its safe and friendly atmosphere.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?  Valley Falls is a great place for Shannon to reflect and appreciate the natural beauty and power of nature.  She feels it looks different every time you visit too depending on the season and weather conditions.

Favorite place outside of WV? Holland, Michigan, her hometown, is her favorite place away from West Virginia.  She has fond memories of the Dutch Festival where she used to be a Dutch dancer and gave tours of a windmill.

Favorite restaurant?  Meagher’s Irish Pub is her favorite and the cabbage rolls are her favorite appetizer.

Best childhood memory?  Times spent with family and friends on the beaches of Lake Michigan are cherished.

Favorite musical group?  Pop and top 40 are what you find on her car radio.

Pets? A rescue dog, that they estimate to be about thirteen, named Buddy.

Hobbies? Reading, walking, working outside in her yard, community service (she is a member of the GFWC Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club), and attending her families activities are her hobbies.

Interesting fact about you?  Shannon enjoys refinishing old furniture and has a knack for staging houses for sale.
