According to WDTV, a HAZMAT situation in Fairmont has prompted the lockdown of a local high school.
The HAZMAT situation was reported on Outlook Road near Fairmont Senior High School at 11:42 a.m., according to Marion County 911 officials.
The school went into a precautionary code yellow lockdown at 12:05 p.m. due to the “issues in the neighborhood that police and fire are currently handling,” according to a post on their Facebook page.
School officials are asking people to refrain from entering campus until an all clear is given, as access will be denied.
Fire, police and EMS are on scene, 911 officials said. There is no word on what prompted the HAZMAT situation at this time.
