Off the Shelf: Library has Your Summer Reading Picks

By Savanna Draper on May 29, 2024

Interested in reading the hottest books of the summer? Look no further than the Bridgeport Public Library! If the library doesn’t already have a copy of these titles, we will soon. Summer is a great time to pick up some books and get some reading done while lounging by the pool or on a tropical vacation. Reading is the perfect leisure activity during the hot summer months, especially if the book is summer-themed!

Dive into The Summer Book Club by Susan Mallery. The rules of the summer book club are simple. 1. No sad books. 2. No pressure. 3. Lots of wine! This year, the book club is all about fill-your-heart reads, an escape from the chaos of the everyday like running a business, raising a family, and juggling a hundred to-dos. Follow along with Cassie, Laurel, and Paris as they have the best summer book club ever.

Get lost in Summer Fridays by Suzanne Rindell. In the summer of 1999, Sawyer is striving to make it in New York. Between her assistant job in publishing, her secret dreams of becoming a writer, and her upcoming wedding to her college boyfriend, her plate is full. Only one problem: She is facing an incredibly lonely summer as her fiancé has been spending longer and longer hours at work…

Try outSummer Romance by Annabel Monaghan. Benefits of a summer romance? It's always fun, always brief, and no one gets their heart broken. Ali Morris is a professional organizer whose own life is a mess. Her mom died two years ago, then her husband left, and then she meets someone new. How will this summer romance unfold?

Get intrigued by Summers at the Saint by Mary Kay Andrews. Welcome to the St. Cecelia, a landmark hotel on the coast of Georgia, where traditions run deep and scandals run even deeper… Traci Eddings was one of those outsiders whose family wasn't rich enough or connected enough to vacation here, but she could work here. One fateful summer she did, and then married the boss's son. Now, she's the widowed owner of the hotel, determined to see it return to its glory days, even as staff shortages and financial troubles threaten to ruin it.

Take a trip with Seven Summers by Paige Toon. Liv and Finn met six summers ago working in a bar on the rugged Cornish coastline, with their futures full of promise. When a night of passion ends in devastating tragedy they are bound together inextricably. This summer Liv crosses paths with Tom—a mysterious new arrival in her hometown. Will new love bloom?

All of these summer reads and many more are available for checkout at the Bridgeport Public Library. Interested in being the first to discover the latest books in your favorite genre? Sign up for our newsletters by visiting our website bplwv.org.
