Permit Filed for $2 Million-Plus Project in Bridgeport

By Jeff Toquinto on March 13, 2026

Another major project is set to take place in Bridgeport, and it is a familiar place that many have occurred over the years.

Bridgeport Community Development Director Andrea Kerr confirmed that United Hospital Center had recently filed for and received a building permit for a $2.02 million dollar project. Kerr said it is for a seventh floor renovation, in particular, what is described as “Seven South.”

The project, she said, will involve roughly half of the floor. The total area impacted, Kerr added, was right around 16,000 square feet.

As for the initial stage, Kerr said it will involve demolition. Items being demolished include flooring, dry wall, medical/surgical rooms, corridors, and more. Also being demolished will be the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP).

New flooring and finishes, paint, MEP, lighting controls, sinks, patient headwalls, and more. The work is set to go at the same time as UHC is working on a new, 48,000 square foot, two-story outpatient surgery center, which will be located on three acres adjacent to the hospital.

“This among many reasons why UHC receives so many accolades. It’s not just because of excellent patient car that’s given, but they take care of the facility,” said Kerr. “They always want to be on the cutting edge of technology and at the same time they continue to put upgrades into the hospital to help it continue to meet the standard they have set for so many years.”

Marks Landau Construction LLC, out of Allison Park Pa., is the contractor. The engineer of record on the project is Gresham Smith out of Tennessee.
