Popular Coopers Rock Overlook Closed to July 2026

West Virginia State Parks officials announced that the main overlook at Coopers Rock State Forest will be closed for scheduled repairs with an expected completion date in July.
“Ensuring the safety of our guests is our top priority,” said West Virginia State Parks acting chief Dillard Price. “This new bridge will provide a safer and more enjoyable way for visitors to experience one of West Virginia’s most iconic overlooks.”
Over the next several months, the overlook’s aging bridge will be replaced to maintain safety standards, said officials. Currently, the state park officials expect the work to be completed in July 2026.
