Preston County Bear Attack Requires HealthNet Flight

According to WDTV, a man was attacked by a bear in Preston County Thursday.
West Virginia State Police said they were called to a wooded area for a reported bear attack at approximately 7:45 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, they found a man who suffered severe injuries, especially to his right leg, from the attack.
Emergency crews were able to borrow at UTV from a ‘Good Samaritan’ to bring the man down to the main roadway, where he was given further care by EMS before being life-flighted to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
The man is reported to be in stable condition, police said.
Police said the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources will be investigating the attack.
The Preston County Sheriff’s Office, the Rowlesburg Fire Department, Terra Alta EMS and KAMP Ambulance assisted police on scene.
