HOW TO PAY WV PERSONAL PROPERTY VEHICLE TAXES IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE TAX CREDITS

The office of Harrison County Assessor Rocky Romano has sent an important message about the upcoming tax credits and how you qualify.

The guidelines are below. If you have questions following reading the guidelines, call 304-624-8510 or 304-624-8520 Or visit the office in the new General Services Building situated at 229 3rd Street, Clarksburg, WV. The building is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

GUIDELINES:

• FIRST: You MUST PAY HALF BEFORE October 1 At least half of your personal property vehicle tax ticket for the year must be paid before Oct. 1. Credits for your payment will be reflected in your 2024 state income tax filing next spring, 2025. You MUST pay at least HALF of your personal property vehicle tax ticket BEFORE October 1.
• To receive FULL CREDIT on your 2024 WV State Income Taxes: Pay the FULL AMOUNT NOW, or pay the 2nd half amount before December 31st. As long as you pay your personal property vehicle taxes within calendar year 2024, you WILL receive that amount of credit for your WV state income tax filing next Spring 2025.
• HOWEVER, If you timely pay your second half on or after January 1 - which must be paid BEFORE April 1 - you wont receive that credit on WV state income taxes until the following year, Spring 2026.

• These guidelines also apply to Disabled Veteran Real Property taxes and small businesses with an aggregate appraised personal property value of $1 million or less. (50% credit)
