First-Ever Mtn Craft Film Festival Coming; Scheduled for Sept. 29 and 30 at Robinson Grand in Clarksburg

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 25, 2023

The Mtn Craft Film Festival, West Virginia’s newest film festival taking place September 29th-30th in Clarksburg, is currently selling tickets to the event.

The inaugural year of the Mtn Craft Film Festival will showcase four independent feature-length documentary films by local filmmakers as well as countless short films from other filmmakers across Appalachia. By showcasing these captivating stories, Mtn Craft aspires to illuminate the rich tapestry of Appalachian culture, shedding light on the diverse perspectives, struggles, triumphs, and nuances of the region.

“We decided to keep the focus as local as possible in our first year, which is why we’re so proud to be featuring four amazing and thought-provoking feature films from native West Virginians this year,” said Justin Litton, the festival coordinator, “and if you’re tempted to assume anything about the quality of these “local” films… don’t. They are incredible!”

Announced recently, the film lineup includes King Coal, Brawlers, Impossible Town, and OPioneer. More information about the films can be found on the festival website and social media pages.

The festival will take place at the beautiful, historic Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in the heart of Clarksburg. Thanks to a dedicated team and the support of the Robinson Grand, every attendee of the festival will enjoy a state of the art audio/visual experience, networking opportunities, a unique VR film installation, local food trucks, vendors, and a friendly, accepting atmosphere.

"A venue like the Robinson Grand should absolutely be the host of an incredible film festival," said Jason A Young, the Robinson Grand's program manager. "We believe Mtn Craft is poised to create an event that is going to exceed our expectations."

Mtn Craft is a full-service story development and video production studio located in Fairmont, founded by Ben Berry and Justin Litton. For
10 years Mtn Craft has produced world-class film and commercial video content for businesses and organizations across a wide range of industries.

The Mtn Craft Film Festival is driven by a steadfast commitment to cultivating a vibrant arts community and expanding access to independent cinema to Clarksburg and far beyond.

Ticket prices are $25 for single day passes and $40 for a full weekend pass, which gives access to all of the films, and they are now on sale through the Robinson Grand ticketing site.

For the festival schedule, lodging information, and more, please visit mtncraftfilmfestival.com. Business and vendor inquiries as well
as sponsorship inquiries should be directed to festival@mtncraft.com.
