City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on January 19, 2020 from City Faces

Meet this week's City Face, Mario Bombardiere:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.

I have lived in Bridgeport for 37 years.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.

I have been married for 27 years to my wife, Tricia, who is the cemetery manager here in Bridgeport. I have two boys in their twenties and my daughter is a freshman. All have attended Simpson Elementary, BMS and BHS. My granddaughter is 8 years old and has been a part of our family since she was 1.

What about pets?

In the last year we lost our dog, Jasmine, of 15 years and a cat ( Buddy), but got two new cats (Hope and Magic) to fill the void.

Where do you work and what do you do there?

I work for the US Department of Labor as a Wage and Hour Investigator. I enforce compliance of federal labor laws.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?

I enjoy spending time with my family and providing support in their endeavors. I have been involved in youth sports (especially football) and other school/community activities over the last 20 years. It is important for me to give back to this community and its youth.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?

Wayne Jamison Field

What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?

The support of the community in practically every area is why I love to be here. New families that I meet who just move here experience a family atmosphere.

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...

Well, the actual events didn’t take place here in Bridgeport but all the discipline and hard work sure did. It would be the experiences I had as a player on the ‘86 football championship team and as a father getting to see my son do it as a player twice in ‘13 and ‘14.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?

I don’t do much travel, but any golf course that doesn’t mind me scoring a snow man (that’s an 8 to the non-golfer) every nine holes.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?

The family went to Hilton Head for the first time a couple years ago, and that was a blast.

What are some of your favorite things? Food/restaurant? Favorite color? Music genre/artist?

I enjoy the parades and community activities. My favorite food is Italian and steak hoagies. My favorite colors are white and red - of course I can’t pick between those two. And I listen to all kinds of music (the 80s rule).

What is your best childhood memory?

Playing all day with my friends and barely making it home before the street lights came on - but they were humming.

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…

I got to break dance in front of the Harrison County Courthouse for an event when I was in middle school.
