City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on March 15, 2020 from City Faces

Meet this week's City Face, Alyson Piot.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here?
I moved to the area in 2008 with my then fiancé for a job.  I remember telling him “There is a place called ‘Clarksburg’ that had a job.”  Little did we know how quickly we would grow to love the Bridgeport community.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.
I’ve been married to Jason for over 11 years. We have two active boys, Dominic (9) and Nicholas (7)

What about pets?
I have two cats, Grizzly and Oompa, but we as a family just adopted Chase, a shepherd/husky mix.

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I would like to say I am blessed to be a stay-at-home mom, however, I have picked up a lot of part-time jobs.  I am employed as a dietitian at UHC, ARC of Harrison County, and two gyms.  I also teach online nutrition at Fairmont State University and aerobics at Main Street Fitness.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
I love helping people and being active.  I will always be a die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan, no matter what the sport.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?
I almost think this changes with the sports seasons.  Right now, I love spending a lot of free time at the Rec Complex, either walking or watching my kids play sports.

What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?
Community and family support. Jason and I moved here without knowing anyone or anything. This community has really welcomed us with open arms.

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...
I love the first Saturday of December. My kids and I do the Jingle Jog, followed by the pancake breakfast, and the Christmas parade.  This year was extra special with the state championship football team, and my oldest and his pee wee white football team were in it as well.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
I have a lot of good family memories at the Greenbrier.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?
My favorite spot is probably my mom and dad’s house in Pittsburgh or Spring Training in Florida.

What are some of your favorite things?
Family first.  Then being active.  I feel so much better about myself and have a much better attitude if I move every day.  I also enjoy Hallmark movies and reading.

Food/restaurant?
Winnie’s

Favorite color?
Red

Music genre/artist?
Garth Brooks

What is your best childhood memory?
We went on family vacations every year.  One of my favorite was driving across the country and enjoying places like Wyoming, Colorado, and the Dakotas.

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…
I have competed in 7 half ironmans (70.3 miles) and 5 marathons. I have raised over $35,000 for breast cancer and enjoy walking 60 miles to raise
awareness.  I am currently working on my fourth
De-Feet Breast Cancer Run/Walk to be held at the Bridgeport Rec Complex on August 1st to raise additional funds for the cause. I have donated my hair to Locks of Love four times so far.
