City Faces in Different Places

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.
All of my 62 years, other than when attending college and law school, though even then I spent summers here
 
Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.
My wife Cindy and I have been married for 37 years.  We have two children: Mimi Cook and Sarah Higgins, both of whom live in the Charlotte, NC area.  We have two grandchildren, Carlyn and Colton Mahney.  I have three brothers and two sisters and many nieces and nephews—most of whom live in or near Bridgeport
 
What about pets?
We have 2 dogs, Kobe, a lab, and Lucy, a sheltie.  We just recently lost a cherished cat, Chloe
 
Where do you work and what do you do there?
I am a Family Court Judge, serving Harrison and Doddridge Counties.  I also serve as Harrison County’s Juvenile Drug Court Judge.
 
What are your hobbies/favorite pass-times?
I like to ride my bicycle, cook, and read.  And, of course, play with my dogs.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I love being outdoors.  I also enjoy being a volunteer reader at Johnson Elementary.  For many years Cindy and I have enjoyed walking with friends to Wayne Jamison Field to watch BHS football. 
 
Favorite Bridgeport spot? 
Deegan and Hinkle lakes, and the city parks
 
What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live? 
Bridgeport is a unique, close-knit community, and is a great place to raise a family.  It still has the quiet small-town community feel.  We have excellent schools and great city government.  I have never seriously thought about living anywhere else.
 
One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...
My favorite memory: my entire childhood. I have so many fond memories of family and friends that it is difficult to single out one or two specific events.  The Firemen’s Fair comes to mind, as does the school “fairs” at Simpson Elementary.
 
What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
Seneca Rocks and the general area of Pendleton and Grant counties.  I also love the Canaan Valley area.
 
How about your favorite place outside of WV?
Gatlinburg, TN
 
What are some of your favorite things?
My favorite things are birds, my bicycle, my smoker/grill, my books, and my “Bumblebee” Camaro.
 
Food/restaurant?
I love hamburgers, wings, and pizza.  My favorite restaurants are Wonder Bar and Pimanti’s
 
Favorite color?
Green
 
Music genre/artist?
Country: George Strait, Luke Combs
 
What is your best childhood memory?
I guess there are two: Playing with my friends and my brothers, and helping my dad work around the house
 
Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…
I have bicycled from Bridgeport to Davis/Canaan Valley 22 times and have ridden just shy of 22,000 miles on my bicycle.  I love teaching children’s Sunday school with Cindy at Simpson Creek Baptist church.  I have a passion for history, and for photography.
